1 Nephi 9

1 Nephi 9

Vs 2-3 Nephi is particular to tell us about two sets of plates, both called "The Plates of Nephi," one of which has a "full" account, the other focuses on "the ministry" of his people. The "Plates of Ministry" exist because God commanded him to make them. Haven't we received the same commandment? Where are our personal "Plates of Ministry?" Where do we write down the communication we receive from God? Are we organized enough to have plates of brass or gold on which we painstakingly inscribe our spiritual revelations. I can be as wordy as I like with my journal, since it takes all of 1 Calorie per paragraph to type. What was the caloric investment to engrave on gold? You had to mine the gold, smelt the gold, form it into sheets, pound it thin, and then etch into it your thoughts. 1000 Calories per paragraph? 10,000 per paragraph? Quite the investment. It wasn't just a simple commandment for Nephi to have two sets of plates. It is another example of how Nephi "went and did as the Lord commanded."

Vs 6 Nephi trusts that Lord will prepare a way for him to make those extra sets of plates.
